That's bad. I thought the whole point of FB was that no one would know who you look at. If you show up in people you may know just for looking at their profile, that kind defeats the whole point. Now I regret looking up anyone I'm not friends with--- happens often.

I think it can also do with email addresses if either of you or the ex allowed Facebook access to your email address book. An ex boyfriend looked at my LinkedIn profile and his new wife started showing up in my people you might know on Facebook even though we are not otherwise linked. Weird.

Not OP but sometimes I have ZERO friends in common and people still show up.

You have mutual friends - probably your BF's friends.

I don't think FB friend suggestions are based on who searched for whom - plenty of the people suggested to me are just my friends' siblings.
