I will not vote for a Republican.

I'm a moderate, but I agree with your underlying point. There absolutely are qualified candidates in the race. People treat this like a high school popularity contest, when it's really more like a job interview. We've got a very specific and difficult job that we need to fill. Who can do it? My list of who's most qualified?: Clinton, Christie, Kasich, Bush. Rubio, O'Malley, Sanders, and Jindal are in the camp of probably not actually qualified, but likely close enough to qualified not to run the country into a ditch. None of the others are really qualified IMHO: Trump, Carson, Fiorina, Cruz, Huckabee, Santorum (either because they simply lack relevant experience, or because their views are so far outside the mainstream that they'd be ineffective leaders for the country).

The Democratic machine has kept the non-politician out of the public race so far. Maybe look into Lawrence Lessig and see if you like him?

Not that he'll win the primary, but I think people would like Lessig if they realized he was running.

Totally feeling the Bern here.

I don't like anybody and wish Biden had joined the race. I will hold my nose and vote for whoever the Democratic candidate is next year, because the current incarnation of the Republican Party is a complete disaster and I'm terrified of what the nutjobs in the House might do if they didn't have the executive branch blocking them. But I won't be enthusiastic about it. HRC is increasingly seeming like a power-hungry slimeball who will do and say anything to advance herself and has no principles--I haven't been too impressed with Obama but I think there are a few things he stands for and some lines he won't cross, and I can't say that about Hillary.

Nope. Rubio, Christie, Kasich, Fiorina. Jim Webb if he'd stuck it out. Any of them would be fine. Romney, if he'd be willing to take an apology for having doubted anything he'd said. Maybe Chafee. Other than that (Hillary, Bernie, The Donald, oh my) and we're collectively screwed.

I don't know whether to feel flattered or repulsed that you are in my thread, EmoDCUM.

I agree with the others and I could maybe possibly get behind Hillary if not for her age and some serious trust issues after her run as Secretary of State.

I hear you, OP. I cannot get behind a single one of the candidates. Hillary would be my choice were it not for the fact that I honestly don't trust her.

Same here. Get ready for a mediocre next 4 years, whoever actually wins.

If I had to vote today I couldn't vote for any of them. I have zero confidence in any of the candidates even keeping our head above water let alone fixing anything.

Seriously. I almost feel like I should research one of the lesser know of the 37 or whatever republican candidates just to see if I like any of them.

WTF?

Why didn't Joe Biden run? At least he's a politiciany politician and somewhat amusing.

Anyone else just have zero hope for 2017?
