Cashion's is a great suggestion.
My husband and I had an excellent meal at The Garrison recently, but it's smaller plates and *maybe* more adventurous than your husband wants.
If you are into sharing, I adore Cork - that was our go-to date night place when we lived in the city.
If he is just interested in old school standards, maybe 1789 or Marcel's?

So somewhere that would suit his tastes but might have a couple more adventurous items for myself

He likes these but not onions? How does this work? Asia is a huge continent btw, so many different tastes/cuisines/textures/ingredients.

That makes it a bit difficult. I would go to Black's in Bethesda. Then he can get a steak or fish and you can get something interesting. If it has to be in DC, I think I would do Bourbon Steak.

I wasn't buying into the hype of Rose's Luxury, but my elderly, very well-traveled neighbor ate there recently and can't stop talking about it. He says his meal was "perfect" and that we must go. Maybe you could hire someone on TaskRabbit to wait in line for you.
DH and I have had nice date nights at Fiola Mare, Rasika and Komi's. Mintwood Place was a bust.

we LOVED Fiola, its old school, but maybe we went on a good night. we did tasting menu ($100/per person) so might be out of budget if you add drinks)

My DH and I have rare night out next weekend for our birthdays (2 days apart)
We have a car hired for the night and want to go to DC for dinner. We live in MD and don't get into the city much, suggestions on a nice place to eat? Moderatly priced, like $200 ish for the two of us for dinner. throw out some suggestions so I can check out some menus.
