I think it's brilliant! And I loved Arrested Development, too. Can't explain why it works for me and not others, though.

I don't get it either and I tend to like quirky, offbeat comedies -- Arrested Development and BBC's Office and Coupling. As much as I love Tina Fey, I just couldn't get into 30 Rock.

Agree with PPs. Best show on TV. Alex Baldwin is fantastic. The six-sigma crap is funny as h&ll. And Tina Fey is great at writing dialogue.

Best show on TV. You have to think and listen to the dialogue to pick up on all the jokes. Not for everybody.

I think it's really clever - love Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin. The rest of the cast I can take or leave.
But, I HATE American Idol and other popular shows. Never got into it. The Survivor craze of the late 1990s also passed me by. Hated that show and all the annoying people on it.
Luckily there is all kinds of TV for people.

For the most part, I like it. But sometimes the scenes seem contrived and I can imagine them sitting around saying, "Let's add that, that will make it funny."

See, for me The Office is funny b/c I can relate to the characters and/or storyline...either as myself or someone I know/coworker. Obviously, The Office greatly exaggerates the characters and their behavior, but it's in a comical light. Don't we all look forward to free pretzel day like Stanly or have a dorky coworker like Dwight?

Agree.
I never found it be even somewhat amusing. In fact, I can't stand looking at Alec baldwin nor tina fey (there is just something about them...condescending maybe? I don't know...)
