I never understood why people hated them. I really liked them and their music. "Far away" always made me cry because it reminded me of my long distance relationship at the time.

Because they're a boring derivative "sounds like every other post-grunge and quasi bluesy band" outfit. All their songs sound the same. And their lead singer has an annoying voice.

I think they are GREAT! Rock Star makes me laugh and Photographs makes me think. Those are just two off the top of my head. There must be ten more Nickelback songs I love for the melody and the intuitive nature of their songs.
