Here too. Your wiring could be "updated" but still pretty old. We found a deal on craigslist to have someone look at it. Did you just move in?

Also check that the light bulb in the porch light fixture works.

Our Arlington Colonial has three switches by the front door. Far-right is for the porch light. Middle is for the upstairs hall light. Left is for the living room.

tried the ones by the front door and also the ones near the top of the stairs and some combination of both but still couldn't figure it out. help!
