A sonohysterogram may cause a little period like cramping and pelvic pressure. A good amount of saline is infused through a catheter inserted into the endocervical canal to distend the endometrial cavity. Take ibuprofen 30-60 minutes prior to the procedure.

This. I've had both an HSG and an SHG (what you are doing OP). The SHG was very easy. I had a little cramping later in the day and not much else. I did take some advil before and after. Really not a big deal at all. Much much easier than a D&C.
I also got pregnant the month I had it done after 2 years of unexplained infertility. My DD is over a year old now.
