How did it take less than a day?

We did it ourselves. Cost $100-$200 per room. Took less than a day.

I would recommend you go on vacation for a week and come back after the floors have time to dry.

A lot of people pay more to replace just because they can't give up a week of living in the house while it's being refinished.

we just got a quote for $4500 to do the same (carpet pulled up in the upstairs of a house we are buying). Roughly 900 square feet, 3 BR, 2 Baths, hallway.

I can't believe it compares to replacing the hardwoods. Anyone get quotes on refinish/repair vs replace?

Had our dc house, about 1700 sq ft done before we moved in, got quotes from 3 companies between $4000-5000. They did spot repairs for damaged boards. Took about 5 days.

Can damaged floors be repaired in areas, or do you have to refinish the whole room? Our dog scratched a hole in our floor.

we live in dc, used Angel Floors, and refinished roughly 2100 square feet for about $3K. So worth it. Took 5 days and we had no furniture in the house.

We got estimates of $4-5 a sq ft to refinish ours. We found it was cheaper to just get new wood floors, which seemed like a waste. We sold the old wood floors on craigslist too.

i just got an estimate of $1000 just for my kitchen. i think there is a big fixed cost for a company to just come out....

i might get another estimate though...

We refinished about 1,000 sq ft in a rental property that we own a couple years ago and it cost around $2,200. That included new shoe molding. Not cheap but worth it.

We did this in the spring. We had about 700 sq ft., and it cost about $1500. You'll want to be out of the space for about a week.

Just bought a place that has carpet over hardwood in most of the main areas. Plan to pull up the existing carpet and re-finish the hardwood floors. Probably about 1,000 sq ft, anyone have a rough estimate on how much this should cost?
