This is us. And I saw it coming so I switched to a high-deductible plan a couple of years ago and loaded up the health savings account to pay for them with pre-tax dollars.

Well.... we use fed-based insurance for dental.... I'm pretty sure they have 12-15 plans. Maybe you should look into it.

$8,450. Ins covered $1k. My daughter needs 4 teeth minimum pulled, has an expander and braces on the bottom. We hit the jackpot :/

My insurance pays $1000 max lifetime. Son's palate expander is $3,000. Not sure how much braces will be in a few years.

Yes, I'm 18:00 above. My comparisons weren't completely fair. The first kid's braces cost 6k and about 40% of that was paid by our insurance so we paid about $3500.
My 2nd kid is doing invisilign and the total cost for every single thing was under 4k and with a discount for paying upfront and insurance we paid a total of $1800.

3 estimates $5k to $5800. Another easy case of correcting a minor overbite and some slightly overlapping teeth.

We got three quotes, all came in between $5500-$8000. This is for an "easy" case of closing spaces, 1 phase 18-24 months. Doctors all in MoCo, most expensive one in Downtown Bethesda.
