Fatty's in Dupont is the real deal. Clean, clean, clean, and utterly professional. I've had work done in NYC and SF. This is where you want to go in DC.
If you choose to go elsewhere, you'll have to worry about everything from privacy to cleanliness, also quality of line and the ink. Just go to Fatty's so you don't even have to ask. They'll walk you through it all.
I went somewhere else just to have my nose piercing re-opened and was shocked by the lack of professionalism. People were placed together without regard for what they were having done. A woman had to stand, with her trousers pulled down on one side, while an "artist" addressed her design. I had to specifically request a needle that had been through the autoclave. Huh?
