Stay in Vineyard Haven then (aka Tisbury). The Black Dog (the tavern, not just the store) is based in Vineyard Haven which is worth going to even if it's touristy. It's open year round.

CapeAir? Hard to get to in my experience too.


You can also fly jetBlue to Boston and then Cape Air to MV. They are located next to each other in Logan, and do code share flights.

Agree - There are several towns on MV. If you want to walk to wedding events you need to specify the town.

You can also rent bikes and bike between Oak Bluffs, Edgartown and Vineyard Haven pretty easily, although I wouldn't do that to get to from the wedding/reception, more as a fun thing to do to see the island.

It can be quite chilly in spring - depends on if you are talking March or May, but even in May it can be chilly.

The island is more than 20 miles long. You will need a car.

MV sure has changed A LOT since the 80s! And generally not for the better.

Edgartown has the most going on in terms of upscale shopping and restaurants. There is a cheap bus that connects all of the towns on the island. I am going to a wedding there next spring (flying). I don't know much about the island. Any recommendations on where to stay. We will not have a car. Would like to be able to walk for meals and site seeing though we will not have lots of free time around the wedding events. Thanks.
