I thought the room for a diaper was the difference between 24 months and 2T. I was under the impression "T" sizes were not meant to accomodate diapers.

The difference is 4t has room for diaper. 4 are longer in length and slimmer cut in tush

4T and 4 have the same weight range, but 4 is taller by two inches. * 5T and 5 have the same weight range, but a different height range. The following manufacturers have provided weight and height size charts. Some also provide chest, waist, and hip measurements for children aged 2T to 6X.

Agree that 4 is bigger than 4t. For my preschooler, 4 is cut wider . 4t fits her better as she is slim.

I think of XS as being a step up from 5T, so 2 sizes bigger than 4T. This may not be true of every brand, but it is true for Old Navy/Gap.

Size 4 (usually extra small, not small) is a little longer then size 4T and may be sized a little differently elsewhere.

It often varies by brand too.

I don't think 4 corresponds to Small. In my experience, Small corresponds to 6-7. Extra small is 4-5. 4 pants are slightly longer than 4T pants, but about the same in the waist.

I was told the "T" is for toddler meaning there's more room I the waist/bottom for a diaper vs. a 4 isn't.

Size 4 corresponds to size 5T. I'm not very sure if there's any difference between 5T and size 4, they seem similar to me.

I looked for a thread with this topic but can't find anything.

What's the difference between clothing size 4 (small) and 4T? I have a 3yo who fits into most 4T pants, but I'm wondering if i should start buying him size 4 clothing instead? I went to Carter's and they couldnt' give me a straight answer. I need clothing that is as long as possible b/c he's got looooong wiry legs

Thanks.
