I'm in the minority but we can do two nights there and not mind it at all. Actually have fun!
Why don't you do Williamsburg? 1 or 2 nights at Great Wolf then the rest of your stay can be spent at another resort in Williamsburg. You could do Busch Gardens, Colonial Williamsburg.

You could drive to a local ski resort like near Davis or Snowshoe, or even up to NY (Lake Placid?) or New England. Smuggler's Notch has kid's club and skiing. Mount Treblant in Canada?

I have been thinking about this very thing, leaning towards ski rental cabin in WV near Timberline, or even a short getaway for XC at a state park. But in the end my family always opts for WARM over cold when we have to choose, like the Keys or south of Ft. Myers. Could be done with stops along the way (Charleston, Savannah, Amelia Island, Orlando, the Everglades etc.) We swam in the pool on Marco Island and went on a tour to see manatees, next time we might rent a boat and explore Keewaydin Island or take the ferry from Ft. Myer to Key West...
OP here. I'm totally in the warm weather camp! But DH doesn't want to spend the $1600-2000+ just on airfare. We are already flying for spring break. If I win the lottery - I'll do flying trips for both breaks!

You could drive to a local ski resort like near Davis or Snowshoe, or even up to NY (Lake Placid?) or New England. Smuggler's Notch has kid's club and skiing. Mount Treblant in Canada?

Really? One year, there was a blizzard and the road up to NY was closed and there were multiple traffic accidents on the roads in PA. Oh - I don't mean one year I mean a lot of years. No, I wouldn't head up north to NY or Canada. Last year, my brother was shoveling snow off of his roof right around then.

If you go to Canada, consider going ice skating on the Rideau Canal in Ottowa. Such a neat experience.

We are contemplating a road trip to canada. If people can drive to Florida, why not canada?
Drive to NYC and spend a night or two, then head to Montreal and spend a night, then move on to Quebec City for 2 nights and then head back.
Someone posted pics of Quebec in winter on a recent thread. It looks super fun!

Yes. No way would I spend more time there. Greenbriar would be great for 3 or 4 nights. Nemacolin as well.
Did someone really suggest driving all the way to Canada? Isn't that 12+ hours???

I'm with you on two whole weeks, and I am struggling with the same. I'm looking at Charleston/Kiawah, but it's kind of a long drive. If you like resorts, a couple of days at Nemacolin, Homestead or Greenbriar might be fun.

My husband has ruled out flying for cost reasons...but I'm still trying to think of somewhere to go. I don't think it will be skiing weather yet, the warm temps are too far south...where could we go that would still be fun? Kids are 5 and 7.
