He has issues. I'm sorry--it must be so stressful to feel like you are always waiting for an attack. Has he experienced trauma of some kind?

We keep our doors locked when we take the dog out for walks and set the alarm if we're leaving in our cars but I'd be concerned if my husband was carrying a weapon from room to room of the house. I'm a police officer and when I'm home my gun is locked up. I do take it with me when I'm running errands but I definitely don't take out the recycling with it.

I call troll. What grown adult has to ask whether this is normal?

I'm 47 years old and never been robbed. I lock the door at night and when I'm away from the house. Your dh's attitude would drive me up a wall.

My husband is a real stickler for home security. He gets irate when we don't have the alarm on. It is to the point that we are playing in the yard with the dog and he wants the alarm to be on until we come back in the house. Both of us are trained with firearms and he purchased a gun for the home about 5 years ago. He insists on wearing a holster and carrying it from room to room along with his pepper spray. Overall he is just annoying about this, but he makes it seem like I am too lax when it come to these things. sorry but I don't want to have to arm and disarm the alarm each time we go outside to play or are just sitting in the house. Is that dangerous. FWIW we live in Takoma Park in a safe neighborhood. There were a string of break ins a few years ago but those were just teens with too much time on their hands. No serious theft and they were caught. What do you think? Also, what are your home safety measures?
