Stress reduction, magnesium, and craniosacral therapy. And best to be proactive rather than wait for it to get bad before taking action

Mine started doing it during a very stressful period. Then I started hyper-focusing on it, and it got worse. Then I got more stressed. Bad cycle.

Had to work on lowering my stress and it went away.

Obviously TMJ is a real thing and has many physical causes, but if it's a sudden onset thing, consider if stress could be contributing to it. It has floored me how much stress has manifested into physical symptoms once I got into my 30's and beyond. I was NEVER a stress-sensitive person when younger.

Don't open your jaw too wide, do things like bite into apples, clench your teeth, etc. Look up TMJD and stay away from the "nti-tss" guard- that specific guard. It is being touted as a cure for TMJ, but actually messes up your bite alignment (making the whole situation worse)

Dr. Kaplan is the worst. I don't recommend this practice. They use antiquated equipment to diagnose you and charge ridiculous prices. She made my TMJ worse. They are all about cash flow.

Who would you recommend for TMJ? This looked like my best option but now not sure.

Have you had your wisdom teeth out? That helped me immediately. I also grind my teeth, but have been able to train myself to sleep with a relaxed jaw (not letting my teeth touch), which has basically cleared everything up. Like a poor man's CBT.

This is OP... I think I might be grinding my teeth at night, because my jaw has been sore as well. Thanks for all of your suggestions. I'm gonna try and relax

I had bilateral TJ surgery twice back when it was still draconian and drastic surgery. Clicking for a few days isn't a bad thing. Relax. Seriously it is the best thing you can do. Also, look up the anatomy of the jaw and disks to better familiarize yourself with what is making that noise.
Then relax some more.

Massage. Rethink the stresses in your life. Also, sleep position.

When was the last time you had your ears cleaned out?

My jaw clicked for a few days right before I got impacted ear wax. This is digesting, but I thought I had an ear infection and went to the doctor and they shot a stream of saline in my ear, and out popped a ball of wax the size of a pencil eraser--with dog fur stuck in it. I almost puked.

The clicking and ear pain went away immediately.

Do you have TMJ? Do you grind your teeth at night in your sleep? My dentist made me a bite guard to fit the upper teeth so I wouldn't grind my teeth at night. My insurance paid for most of the cost.
