What if the nanny was a man? Would the women here be comfortable having a relationship with him?

Not my nanny, but yes, I would.

On the couple of occasions guys made a "real job" comment, I walked away. They can take their ignorant and judgemental ass on down the road. I owned my own business and made a lot of money many years ago. I'd rather eat a bullet than have that high-stress, office lifestyle.

If OP is asking about dating an employer, I have not done that. Once, an employer that hit on me. That was incredibly uncomfortable. It was very unprofessional. I quit soon after.

(If you don't like my preferred spelling of "judgemental," you should get over it. Both are accepted spellings.)

I'm afraid that my wife might have a problem with that, but yes I would.

I'm a nanny in my early 30s. Dating is hard in a town like this as a nanny, so I can understand the question.

My boy friend's in a relationship with a nanny and doesn't seem to mind

OP - if you're questioning if a nanny is worth dating, you need to leave that woman alone because you're not worthy of her. If YOU'RE a nanny, you need to find some self esteem and pride in your work! Good grief.

My friend's son is marrying a nanny next weekend. He is getting a young woman who is loving, kind, calm in emergencies, skilled at multi-tasking, has entertaining gossip...I mean stories about the rich & powerful, can count to ten in five languages, and knows where all the clean public bathrooms in NW DC are. I think he's a lucky young man.

rofl.

Well why not? You haven't told us anything about her - does she have a degree? Is she good at her job? Why did she choose nannying? Is she funny and good company?

I was a nanny with an MA and five years experience as a math teacher when I met DH. I needed a particular schedule and love children, so it was perfect for me at that time. Now I'm comfortable settled in the professional position Id been working towards. There are too many variables to a human being beyond their current occupation.

If I was single, and met someone who was a nanny, and also attractive and had the right personality, then sure. It wouldn't be a turn off.

Dating your own kids' nanny? That should be taboo.

Would her profession bother you if you have a career?
