Subject: How often to replace non-slip mat in tub

I take it up every time it is used and it never gets gross and they last for year's. This is cleanliness 101.

I just got the strips (actually, little squares from Bed Bath and Beyond). The mat was disgusting and the strips are much more low maintenance.

I let mine dry after every use. I occasionally bleach it in the tub with the shower curtain longer. I imagine the bleaching will cause it to wear out sooner than daily use would. I actually started using it myself because I'm pregnant and am afraid my balance isn't so good anymore.

We do this, too, but it still gets gross after a while. Machine washing (with towels to scrub it) helps. We still end up needing new ones every few years, though.

Good tip on the washing machine, too. I suppose from now on I'll pull it up each time, too. I normally would remove it to wash underneath, but we recently started getting house cleaning done 2x a month so I haven't been the one cleaning the tub.

Agree with PP (not about Jesus) -- soak it in some bleach or vinegar and put it in the sun outside. Should be good as new.
And we also use strips. I got them on Amazon. Can't wait until the youngest is old enough not to need them!

I don't believe in non-slip mats. If someone slips in the bath and cracks their head open, it is because Jesus is calling them to be with Him.

We put down strips - I think DH got them at Home Depot? They adhere and stay there for years.
If you have a mat, I'd scrub it, then soak in vinegar and water combo or something like that.
