3.5 - Michigan, Notre Dame, Bates, Colby, William & Mary, NYU, BC, Macalaster would all be very good shots.

MAYBE Pomona/Johns Hopkins/UC Berkeley if there was something else there like amazing test scores or really into robotics or accomplished violinist.

No to Williams/Amherst/Ivies unless there is a hook (legacy, sport, minority)

PP here. Actually, that would be ok. Your employer's own handbook (in the short form handed out at your orientation and online) clearly indicates the following:

"...in those instances where an employee deems the use of DCUM necessary for obtaining information that will reduce stress and increase productivity by assuaging their greatest fears about cheating spouses, under achieving children and boorish behavior at Starbucks, such use will be considered protected under the company's wellness program for up to 30 minutes per day."

OP -- depends if boy or girl. Also, what are the SAT scores? How many APs. Ecs? Legacy? URM? Recruited athlete?

Pretty much where she or he wants to go barring the very top tier (HPY/Stanford).

A solid B student at Sidwell or STA/NCS pretty much has their pick of all but the very, very top academic institutions unless they have legacy status or another extra hook to help them get in.

Only 3.5? Say hello to UDC.

Your kid will do just fine. Sidwell does not rank students and does not traditionally provide GPAs (weighted or otherwise.) College admissions officers are very familiar with Sidwell and its reputation for rigor.

Too many other variables to be able to tell, but pretty much plenty of great options.

Assuming mostly advanced-level classes, plus decent extracurriculars. Just trying to get my expectations in the right place.
