I did it myself. It's pretty easy diy. If you think it's looking worn then just stain it. Try to pressure wash it first so it makes for a better hold on the stain. Took me about about ten hours total which was fine with me because I can't stand paying for the easy stuff I can do myself.

Every 2 yrs for horizontal surfaces and 4 yrs vertical is my benchmark. It does depend on the stain you use as well. Minimum use a good semi transparent stain like Ready Seal or Armstrong Clark. The darker the stain the more protection it offers.

Last year, we got a new wood deck. Already this year it is looking like it needs to be re-stained. How often do people have to re-stain their decks to keep them looking good?
