I don't know why everyone on this board seems to think that chiros are quacks. Sure maybe some, but I for one have gotten incredible pain relief from chiropractic care. Me again - I forgot to add that this is the type of doctor we saw when our ped said our son might have a curved spine. She was able to say that it wasn't bad, and then sent him to PT. He just needed some stretching and strengthening.

My husband has horrible scoliosis and blames his parents. Get on it and stay on it until you are sure you know what's going on.

Why don't you go to the cream of the crop -- an orthopedic surgeon specializing in pediatric spine.

This is OP. Thanks for your suggestions. His ped hasn't been much help, she thinks we should wait and see. I am not comfortable doing that for a variety of reasons (I see his head tilted in a specific way more often, his feet -not sure of the term- are clearly pressed down inward, and so on.) We took him to a doc in a different state who said the origin of this is likely the alignment at his hips. I foolishly didn't ask what type of doctor would know how to handle this.

We have moved, and I don't want to let this go. I have been reading online about the difference between chiropractors and physiatrists, but everything seems to be geared toward back pain. My son (thankfully!) has no pain, but he definitely has something off in his hips. Scoliosis has also been ruled out.

Good grief don't do that. They might know the answer as to if something is off, but you're only going to get one recommended course of treatment....

A physiatrist or physical medicine doctor. Children's has them.

A good place to start would be with your general practitioner for an initial evaluation. If something is not right, they will know, and will probably have a better idea of what specialist to see next.

He is 9 and we strongly suspect that one of his hips is tilted forward. His gait is also not good. Which doctor would be able to study his spine and tell us what needs to be done? Thank you.
