try calling instead of emailing - some rescues aren't great with email, sometimes an email gets lost in the junk folder.

Do you know how much work is involved in running a rescue?
Do you know how many questions we get asked everyday about different animals from people who will never adopt?

I run a large rescue group. Your email more than likely got sent to a junk folder by mistake. Send another email, but this time try to send the email to the group's director or some sort of adoption coordinator. The websites usually have a list of staff along with their contact info. Good luck!!!

The best thing is to try and see the dog at an adoption fair so that you can talk to someone in person. It could also be that they've had tons of applications they'll only review a certain number.

More than likely your email just got lost in a volunteer's inbox. Shoot them another message saying you're still interested.

There was a whole thread on this recently (maybe the title had something in it about having a fenced yard?) where lots of us shares stories about not being good enough for these rescues. It may shed some light on why, despite a deluge of dogs on my Facebook feed every day with people begging for someone to adopt or foster them, you can count me among those people who couldn't get a rescue dog and went to a breeder. Dog is 14 years old now and has a great life with us. Oh the irony!

Keep trying - try a different email address. Sometimes the volunteer is on vacation, etc or just really behind in replying to emails.

Drive over there and see what's up. They are probably u dee staffed and unable to respond to all emails.

contacted rescue group twice about a dog they have for adoption--it's been about 2 or 3 weeks since i sent first email contact and still no response--is this some sort of test to gauge my interest is? Follow up one more time or move on?
