There was a TON of anger about Vick coming back. It was years ago at this point.

The real question is why was there more outrage about Vick than Roethlisburger?

Not a good comparison at all since Roethlisburger, although I have no doubt is an asshole, has never been convicted of anything to my knowledge.

As a former Hokie and a dog lover myself I was appalled, shocked, saddened and angered by the callous abuse that Michael Vick participated in. He deserved to go to jail for it and he did.

That said, the man did his time and he maintained his ability to play. So he is back playing. I am not a fan of his to say the least. I would never watch a game simply because he was playing in it. But I am not going to blow off an entire team because he his on it. He's an a-hole but he is also a talented football player. I'd much rather him spend his time playing football than developing some other unsavory "hobby".

OP here, don't get me wrong, the violence against women perpetuated by athletes is repulsive, and we could go case by case but I don't really want too. I'm an animal lover, that's what's in my heart, so that is what I am focussed on here in the pets forum. Anyway I am not currently in the U.S. I was able to watch my first football game today and was like ew. Glad, so glad to hear outrage in Pittsburgh. I didn't get that vibe just bc none of my friends on social media have said anything. They are all like "Go Steelers!" For me, it's like yeah he paid his dues. But I can't forgive and forget what he did, and I can't enjoy watching the team as a result.

There was outrage and now unfortunately the pitbull no euthanasia movement has affected the general public. Many are clueless and others have some degree of lion tamer complex.

I abandoned my beloved Eagles when they signed Vick. He did his time and deserved to play again. But, still didn't want him on our team.

I'm a native of Baltimore. I remember plenty of outrage about Vick in the past and even now.

I'm in Pittsburgh, where there is plenty of outrage about Vick. There have been protests at Heinz Field at home games and practices. Organizations/corporations that might have rented Heinz Field for other events have taken it off their list in protest. Some of the actual protests, ie individuals with signs outside of the stadium is dying down, but I think that's just the natural course of events. It's hard to sustain that level of protest long term. And then there are those who aren't protesting but saddened by a team that they view as no longer representing their values. It was one thing with Ben - I think he was viewed as a bad apple - but with this hire people (like yourself) are questioning whether the culture of the organization has changed.

Your question about whether we all just move on is a good one and I don't know the answer but I suspect it's why we haven't seen more media coverage of the controversy. People are well are of his crime. He did his time. What else can they say?
