OMG. I can just see getting a text during an important meeting and my boss looking over and seeing "just a reminder, your diva cup is almost full".

Wow. I am a devoted Diva Cup user of 10 years, but not sure I would be down with Bluetooth out of my hooha. Knowing how full it is would be nice though.

Does any woman need a digital play by play of their period?

Sounds like an Onion article. And would you really want a Bluetooth received in your vag? Seems incredibly unhealthy. No thanks!

Holy Sh*t! Technology is crazy! Who's going to pre-order one??

Forget tampons, tackle your period with TECHNOLOGY: Smart menstrual cup syncs with a phone to track the flow and length of a woman's cycle
The Looncup was designed by San Francisco-based Loon Labs
It syncs with a phone or Apple Watch over Bluetooth to reveal vital stats
These include how full the cup is, menstrual colour and tracks the cycle
Looncup has launched on Kickstarter and can be pre-ordered for $40

Every woman's period is unique - from how much pain she experiences to how they affect her mood. To help better understand and manage these monthly changes a design team in San Francisco has developed the world's first smart menstrual cup called Looncup. It syncs with a phone over Bluetooth to track how heavy the flow is, records changes in menstrual colour that could suggest an underlying health issue, and helps users know when they're period is most likely to start and finish.

The designers call it a 'monthly period partner'. Looncup is made of medical grade silicon and is fitted with a sensor, battery and antenna the approximate size of a contact lens.

The sensor knows when the cup is almost full, and will tell the user to empty it. It also tracks changes in body temperature and spots changes in color. This data is recorded automatically on the connected app so users can keep track of changes or share these details with their doctor. The more the Looncup is used, the more it learns about a user's cycle and flow and it can even remind them their period is due, or alert them to changes they may not be aware of.

It could also potentially be used with fertility apps, for example, to help people wanting to get pregnant to track when they are most fertile and track their cycle more accurately.
