I like them - I got my daughter their Summit boots last year for rain and snow on clearance at REI. With thick socks, I think they're fine for the snow weather here. Picked up a pair of black ones in the summer from 6pm.com on discount for this winter. Will be using them for my son in a year or two, so I think they are worth it. I have the adult version for myself and they keep my feet plenty warm for the snow and cold weather here.

How old is your child? We got some from 6pm.com for our 3-year-old and she really likes them (been wearing them for a year now). I don't think they would have been worth the retail price, though.

Oh wow, I had no idea the Bogs were fancy expensive boots! I just got DD a pair at Once Upon A Child for winter-I only got them because the tag said 'waterproof' and they were like $5

Love Bogs and just got DS a new pair to replace the ones he's been wearing for two years (they run a bit big, and we sized up a bit too). Agree with a PP who said the neoprene ones are best if you're looking for rain and snow wear. We doubled up socks when DS wore the boots to play in the snow and he had no complaints.

BTW, we don't live in DC, we live in the Midwest where temps are often below zero. the thick ones are just fine for here so in DC they will be more than adequate for the little snow you get.

yes, if you use them a lot. We live on a farm and our boys are out daily, they are great and the only boots I buy. They also are sturdy enough to serve as hand me downs so we get two uses out of them.

Do get the neoprene/thick ones, not the thinner "just rain" ones. The neoprene ones can be worn all year, the thin ones are not warm enough for winter.

At least the BOGS I bought, which maybe weren't the right ones, didn't actually seem to be all that warm to me. I was hesitant to use them in the snow. That's why I said no. But if you're wearing them daily, well maybe. I have rain boots but don't wear them that much. But we don't commute by foot, so trudging through puddles is something we do for fun. I don't see the point in spending a lot for something like that.

You can see if REI still has the 2014 Bogs on closeout. They're $35.

Looking for a rain boot for my preschooler that will work well with nice socks in the snow. Are Bogs worth the hefty price tag? FWIW she loved wearing the Western Chief ones she recently outgrew, but I'd rather get a nicer pair this go round.
