What do you want to happen? You're in the position to make that happen. He assaulted you. You can press charges. You can probably get him fired. You can get him transferred out of your group.
By saying you can't move on, do you mean PTSD or something like that? Work should be paying for a therapist if you need it.

If you want to press charges you can go to the police. You were assaulted, and that's scary - does your company have an EAP? You could get a few free counseling sessions through that, or you could see a therapist through health insurance. You may want to ask HR/Security what they plan to do to ensure your safety going forward.

I was assaulted at work the other day. I am the young Wizkid, and am probably the most valuable member of my team. One of my colleagues, a new hire, did not like the way I was performing a key task, and started yelling at me. I yelled back, and he choked me. My other colleagues I left to calm down, and he went back to working; our manager did not see the altercation, but some of the team leads did (and were part of operating us).
As a result of this, my colleague was suspended for several days (without pay); I was told to take a day off (with pay). I feel like I did nothing wrong. My manager and his manager seem to be happy with me, as well as all of our customers. But, I am not sure...I really can't just move on.
