Read Annapurna by Maurice Herzog.

It's about the first ascent of the mountain in the 50s. PP from India, you'll find this one especially interesting I think.

I have that book sitting on the bookcase - trying to get DH to read it. I read it years ago. Agree with PPs - stick with it - it is one of those books you remember reading years later.

For those of you enjoying Into Thin Air, I highly recommend Buried in the Sky: The Extraordinary Story of the Sherpa Climbers on K2's Deadliest Day and also High Crimes.

I'm from North India and I have always loved the mountains. This is an amazing book and not the sort of thing I would usually read.

This is one of my favorite books of all time. But it's probably been a good 15 years since I read it, so I think it's time to bust it out again.

+1

I remember when I was reading it I would leave parties early so I could go home and read the book. It's amazing. And I say this as someone who doesn't even like this genre of book.

I am on chapter four too! Also a bit bored... but trying to slog through.

I am glad to know others are feeling the same.

I'm four chapters in and I'm forcing myself to read, so far I'm bored to tears.

Is it against book club etiquette to admit that early on?
