So far, we like the Samsung (recommended by Consumer Reports)

We did indeed go with Speed Queen. We had an ancient Kenmore washer/dryer set that came with our house and one day I asked our repair guy what brand he recommended that he fixed the least. He said Speed Queen – they are built like tanks, solid stainless tubs, etc. I actually stayed away from the front loader and went with the straight-up basic models for both the washer and dryer – I even stuck with the old-style dial knobs, because I just wanted something that worked hard and didn't have lots of bells and whistles. He actually said the ones with sensors are the worst, as they break constantly. I have three kids and no patience for broken appliances! They have worked like champs so far and we're going on four years without a single adjustment.

We bought our Whirlpool Duet set (front-loading, stackable) 6-7 years ago. Going strong, no problems. If I recall, well under your budget.

Hello everyone, I'm looking for a new set of washer and dryer. can you recommend your washer/dryer and why you like them? I see a lot of suggestions on speed queen but did not say the model #. also I think I'd like to get front load and my budget is around $3k. thanks.
