Also seeing Dr. Knee at Wash Endocrine Clinic. The staff is horrible about passing on messages/getting a call back, but Dr. Knee herself is nice. My TSH is in a much better place than it was in January.

I haven't seen Dr. Liu but I too went to another doctor at that practice: worst waste of time ever.

NP here but I have a related question. What to expect from the first appointment with an endocrinologist? I am doing IVFs and I have hypothyroidism.
Are the doctors mentioned above infertility-friendly?

Traycee Knee at Washington endocrinology. The practice is not great, but they do all the testing and the wait time for appointment is minimal. It's in the same building as CFA and I was told that Sacks refers people there. Read yelp reviews before going though - a lot is done by a nurse practicioner if you sign up for Dr. West.

Is this for thyroid? Dr Caroline Huang in Arlington managed my thyroid through two pregnancies. She kept a very close watch on it, and targeted my tsh to 1.0. I don't think I'd have my two kids without her willingness to stay on top of my situation and treat it so strongly.

Dr Ahmed diagnosed my Hashimoto's and since I'm now pregnant after IVF will monitor me during my pregnancy. Just an FYI, it took me 2-3 months to get an initial appointment.

Second the wait times. I will have my first appt. with Dr. Ahmed in October after a 3-month wait.

Suzanne Rogacz in Fairfax. Go to someone relatively close to home or work because you will have to go a lot when you're pregnant.

I see Dr. Hurlock and really like her. She's the only endo I could find that would prescribe Armour. Two notes. She doesn't accept insurance and she won't monitor your levels after you become pregnant.

Hi OP, I was just diagnosed with hypothyroidism myself and have been going through IVF for a year. I live in Alexandria, so I was looking for ones here and most have abysmal reviews. Most endocrinologists seem to specialize in diabetes, that's where their bread and butter comes from. I tried to get in with Dr. Coo and his partner bc they had good reviews, but they're not taking any new patients. I tried to get in with GW, but their first available was in December! I found Donna Hurlock, who is an ob/gyn but specializes in women's hormone issues and thyroid. I have an appt with her Tuesday, so I can't vouch for her yet!

Does anyone have an endocrinologist recommendation? We are currently going through IVF, so would like someone who understands infertility. DC/Northern VA/MD is fine with me. Thanks.
