This is OP - Thanks to all! The baking soda remedy totally worked. There is still a slight smell but, for the most part, it's gone! Baking soda is an amazing substance.

Dehumidifier.Sprinkle baking soda to remove the smell. If mold and mildew has spread, you will need to replace the carpet.

We had our carpets professionally cleaned. Open all windows or run the ac. It took a couple of days and the smell went away. Not sure what your situation is, though.

Go to Home Depot and purchase a large dehumidifier and several box fans. It will take a couple of days, but that should solve your problem.

Who did this?? They got it way too wet.

I would open all doors and windows and run a dehumidifier.

I hate to say this, but that carpet is going to have to be ripped up. Mold and mildew grow and spread. In the meantime, you might be able to use charcoal and baking soda to absorb the smell.

And, worse, my in-laws are moving in today for 3 1/2 weeks!! Anybody have a clue of what I can do to kill the smell of mold/mildew? I'm clueless and the clocks ticking on me!!
