OP, your baby and mine are on the same growth curve. I'm not worried.

My older son was similar, though not to the same extreme. He's now a tall, skinny preschooler.

OP here. Like I said, my MIL has asked me several times if I think DS is "overweight" so that has started getting me paranoid that I'm overfeeding him or something. We just go by his cues. Some days lately, it seems like all he wants to do is eat, on top of the 18-24 ounces of milk he drinks.

He sounds like a big kid. There are big kids, small kids, and average kids. I wouldn't worry unless/until your pediatrician does. In the meantime, tell MIL that your Dr isn't concerned and you aren't either. He's a healthy boy and that's what matters.

My now 5 YO is still 90+ for both. But he is active and has a healthy BMI.

I believe we switched to 2% milk as well - mostly b/c it was what my others kids were drinking and I did not have enough room in the refrig for 2 separate containers of milk.

In responding to your MIL - tell her that his dr says he is n the healthy range for BMI and is happy that he is hitting all of his developmental milestones early.

OP here. He's been walking since before 10 months, and is now running. He has been on the move constantly for months now.

If he's the same percentile for weight and height, I wouldn't worry about it.

I had a baby like this. Huge from the minute he was born and always off every growth chart. Now he's a very tall and thin 6 year old.

He eats an astonishing amount of food and always has.

I don't think kids start thinning out by 13 months though. Give it a few years and listen to the ped and not your MIL.

My ds was like this. He's a tall skinny 5yo now. Can't find pants that stay on his skinny waist. Don't stress.

What are you worried about?

OP here. That should read "99th percentile for weight" in my first sentence.

My 13 month old is 99 percent for weight, as well as for height. His head size is about the 90th percentile. He was 23 inches at birth and weighed almost 10 pounds. He's always been in the 93-99th percentiles, so his growth charts are steady.

My MIL keeps asking me if I think he's overweight, though, and it is starting to make me paranoid. Is he? He is a big guy -- definitely one of those chubby babies. He's been walking for months now with no signs of "thinning out" as people keep telling me he will do.

His pediatrician did not seem to be concerned, but asked us about his diet, and told us to start him on 2% milk instead of whole. We feed him a very healthy diet, but sometimes I am shocked at how much food he can eat.

If you had one of these big babies/toddlers who is now older, how did they turn out?
