OP here. Thanks for your responses. I decided to take her to a cardiologist, just in case. It's probably just that she's thin, and she is Irish/Scottish and very fair skinned. But she doesn't enjoy running around as much as other children seem to, and there is heart disease in our family. Our previous pediatrician recommended taking her to a cardiologist, just because of family history, but it seemed extreme to me at the time. Now I think it's better just to get her checked.

Mine turns purple in cold and red in heat. Doctor said its is fine. Irish-Scottish-English genes yielded thin translucent skin.

My daughter is the same way. Her ped said it's normal because she's petite and very active. It might give you peace of mind to mention it to her doc!

I'm wondering if I should get her heart checked out?

My 9 year old also turns blue, specially during swim practice. Usually after 30m in the water and it's mostly blue lips and around the lips. It's scary, but the ped didn't seem concerned about it.

I'd talk to her ped about it. That does seem a bit extreme reaction to the cold.
