I agree that a good deal of the cursing, including all the F bombs seemed just for the grit or edge factor, it didn't come off natural and was distracting because I started to notice it. Especially the sister, Go, she had to say the f word every time she opened her mouth.

BTW cursing doesn't bother me at all, I do it. This was just over the top with no context or purpose.

My husband was so suspicious and kind of angry at me after he read Gone Girl!

Anyway, I thought the movie was alright, but the book was better at mindf***ing the reader.

I read that the director of Gone Girl said that Affleck was quietly amazing at the subterfuge it takes to cheat on someone -- like look at a text without drawing too much attention to it. So, yeah. Good casting.

Gone Girl was my least favorite of Gillian Flynn's books. Sharp Objects is my favorite followed by Dark Places. It took me a loooong time to get into Gone Girl.

Very average, if that ... Disappointingly so

It was a few years for me between reading the book and seeing the movie, but I seemed to recall the ex boyfriend being much more menacing in the book. Not enough to justify the horrible bloodbath, but enough that you could see her feeling like she needed to incapacitate him to escape safely. In the movie there didn't seem a compelling reason to off him.

Just listened to the audio book, then watched the movie. It felt like the motivations of the characters and then nuances of their relationships in the movie made no sense because of all that was left out from the book.

I wanted to love this but I found it pretty "meh".

"Part I" was pretty boring, I almost gave up on it. Also while the twin sister was interesting every line she said had the word "fuck" or "fucking" in it and it became really distracting and inauthentic.

"Part II" when we see what Amy actually did it got a lot better and I got much more into it.

"Part III" With Desi seemed to be an entirely different movie and I feel it was far too condensed and left too much out about their past.

"The End" The plot holes made me nuts. But besides all of that the fact that we are supposed to believe she got away scott free, when there were cameras in the lake house and other evidence made me annoyed.
