One of my colleagues changes her hair style every few weeks. It's gone from braids of various kinds (I don't know the names), to relaxed, to short springy curls, to some giant medusa-like thing. She looked great in all of them and even if she didn't, whatever. I wear a ponytail every day and no one has ever said anything to me. If a 35 year old white woman with a low ponytail (me) looks professional, then just about anyone can so long as they are neatly groomed. Maybe dreads are out but just about anything else should work. I say wear what you want.
That is great that you are open minded but when you are an African American Female.. you have to think about hairstyles, dress etc.. even in 2015 we have to work harder. Your pony-tail is straight and following... like the American dream.
