Mobicip. Mobicip. and for one last time Mobicip.

I swear that I am not an employee, just a very thankful parent.

OP, just want to respectfully remind you that your view of how to parent is not the only correct way to parent. It is absolutely your prerogative to impose whatever restrictions you feel comfortable with in your home and with your children. However, you should also respect that other people may not feel the need for the same level of restrictions. That does not mean they are not doing their job as parents. It just means they use the approach that works for them. The key is to teach your children how you expect them to handle themselves when they are exposed to different viewpoints and scenarios. Yours is only 10. In the next few years you will see many more variances in household approaches and the key is making sure your kids know how to handle themselves not judging the other parents.

op here. No, not naive. I know my kids will try to see/do things inappropriate. It is my JOB to help them steer clear. Yes, they will do it anyway and sneak behind my back. But it will not be easy for them. I trust my kids. But why would I let a child search the web unabashed? Not a chance in hell. There are restriction options on every item we have and we use them. Not to extreme but my 10 year old is not going to be seeing something for an 18 year old. For those not aware of the restrictions, read the manual., google it. I use apple products and they are very simple to restrict because they CARED enough to know we need to protect our children. IT IS OUR JOB!

+1 For whatever the reason, your kids seem to be very, very interested in things they shouldn't see. Not sure why your children seem to be more precocious than mine, but I can promise you that making these things forbidden won't keep them away.

+1. I am in fact fine with my kid seeing most things online (real people porn is something I'm against anyone seeing, in general, because of how likely it is to be exploitative in some way and how difficult it is to find, and ensure that you have really found, ethical such porn), and even if I weren't I don't believe blocking it and pretending it doesn't exist is the best way to keep my kid away from objectionable things.

My general stance is, if anyone is uncomfortable then you should not be looking at it, if it's illegal you probably shouldn't be doing it, and if you have any questions or concerns or want help finding more/better information you can always come to me.

The bolded part. Your DS is approaching the age where you will see all sorts of different parenting philosophies. Things that are extremely important to you may not bother other parents at all. You will have to decide whether you want your kids visiting those homes. But you can't expect that all parents share your parenting choices. Nothing wrong with saying no to your kids if it is something you feel so strongly about.

Then, you strictly host at your house. Parents should be monitoring kids and if they can't they should not be hosting.
