bump. I'm interested in Kaiser's costs with Shady Grove for IVF. It says $2500, but that doesn't include meds I'm sure. How much are those?

I have Kaiser too. How much for a basic IVF cycle with their 50% discount? Wasn't sure what their negotiated rate is.

Also does Kaiser cover FETs?

I am the MD IPA poster. They have a negotiated rate with Shady Grove, so it will be differ from the prices without insurance. Without the embryo biopsy ( but with IVF, ICSI and assisted hatching) it was $3000+. Copay for meds was another $300 or so. The biopsy and cryopreservation fees are not covered and were $1500 and $1800 OOP per cycle. PGS is also not covered.
The multi-cycle is not covered by insurance. It is designed for those paying out of pocket. With Aetna the medications are vastly more expensive.

The greenlight program also saved me a lot of money. My meds would have been ~$3,500, but with the rebates they were around $2,100. I was on lower doses and stimmed for 11 days. You can definitely ask your nurse about medication donations...even if you only get a few days worth it adds up.

I paid $2000 for ICSI. I didn't join any programs at SGF.

My meds for one cycle were over $6,000. It just really depends on how your body responds.

Adding to 11:38's post, ICSI for the multi-cycle program is $1500. (Total for the 2 cycles, should you need to do both of them.)

The two-cycle discount package mentioned above is $17,500. Medications are extra but the package covers the cost of freezing and FETs. The out of pocket cost for medications can vary from $3-5000 per cycle depending on the meds and dosage. I don't know how much more ICSI costs.
If not part of any package, the cost of freezing is $1800 per cycle. For PGS, the embryo biopsy fee is $1500 per cycle and the PGS lab fee was $2500 for upto 12 embryos. Shady Grove has changed PGS labs since I tested so I don't know if these costs are still the same.
If you can change during open season and are a Fed I would encourage you to take MD IPA. I completed my 3 cycles with them at SG (moving on to a GC with the resulting frozen embryos). The meds are about $200-300 per cycle and the deposit for IVF, ICSI, assisted hatching and embryo biopsy (which was OOP) came to $4500 per cycle. None of the plans as far as I know cover freezing or PGS so those will be extras.
If you need PGS and a FET, the OOP cost for the FET is $4600 at SG. Meds are about $150 more.

There is a 2 package that you can buy out of pocket. It includes freezing of any blasts and up to a year storage. With ICSI it comes to around 17 something. As opposed to just one cycle of IVF which is around 12 (I think, don't quote me on this). There is the program you can apply for which depending on income will take a small percentage off. In my case it was 5% so I paid 16 something for the 2 cycles.

In terms of meds there is also IVF Greenlight which has no income requirements (versus compassionate care). The pharmacy was really kind and told me the compassionate care price versus the IVF Greenlight price and Greenlight in my case was cheaper (Greenlight uses generic drugs). I belong to an infertility support group and some of the ladies donated meds to me. Also, Shady Grove Pharmacy used to take returns on unused meds (they stopped this recently) so I was really able to save in this regards. With the Greenlight program, donated meds and the return policy I only spent around 2000 (versus around 5400). And I was on a low dose protocol and only stimmed for around 9 days. Some of the "non fertility" drugs like the birth control, antibiotic and progesterone inserts were completely covered by Carefirst Bue Shields my insurance.

I've tried looking at some other threads on this, but they are all older, roughly 2012 and 2013. I'd like to know the current, full, out-of-pocket price for one fresh cycle of IVF at Shady Grove these days. Also, how much are ICSI and PGS add-ons? I am 40 so I don't make the age cut-off for the six-cycle package guarantee.

And how much were medications without insurance coverage, roughly? Some people have mentioned getting donated meds at Shady Grove, and I'm aware of the EMD Serono Compassionate Care program, but I guess I'm looking for a worst-case scenario from which I can work backwards.

Also, we are trying to decide whether to switch insurance at open season, so if anyone could comment on medication prices for federal employee Aetna Open Access both Basic and High options, that would be great. It's my understanding that medication prices are nearly completely covered by both Kaiser and MD-IPA, right?
