What do they want you to eat? Kale and quinoa? That crap is awful.

I totally understand that when it comes from certain annoying people, good advice is left unheeded. My mother hounds me to death over certain food choices too, such as the fact that I don't include enough vegetables in our diet, which is true. However she chain-smokes, never does her physical therapy, and slathers butter over everything. Plus she's the type to nag and whine when things don't go her way. She's so annoying that my first impulse is to do exactly the opposite of what she says (very immature, I know - she triggers all kinds of mulish, childish behaviors!).

OMG fuck off, you horrid bitch.

Interesting response. Are you OP? What did I say that would prompt this? Some PPs, including myself, have suggested you might go along with their healthy eating for the length of their stay. It's not unreasonable, and not sanctimonious. Not as if they were suggesting you join them in UNhealthy behaviors. I also pointed out that I have personal experience with this and I know its annoying!

Oh well. Maybe you're a troll.

We very rarely eat dessert, fried foods, salty snacks, etc....we just aren't perfect. Anyway. I was venting, and of course should know that if I vent here, people won't be supportive, instead they'll tell me my parents must be right.

I hear you, op. It's annoying. And apparently DCUM is full of people as sanctimonious as your parents this morning, which I find doubly annoying!

In the history of mankind has nagging ever caused anyone to do anything diffeently? No. It's just rude and makes the annoying over bearing asshat feel better.

Because they live far enough away that (a) four days wouldn't be enough time and (b) I would never make family stay in a hotel, that's terrible!

Just tell them it is bothering you, and that you will continue to make your own choices in your own home. One short uncomfortable conversation is better than two weeks of mounting resentment.

My parents are visiting and they are incredibly health conscious and are shaming us for our poor eating and drinking habits. I don't know how I'm going to last through the next two weeks....

Just venting.
