How does he think they were able to charge his credit card without him having entered a number? He obviously gave them a credit card for some purpose, he should at least cop to that.

NP here. On my husband's bill the merchant is listed as AMDA if anyone is curious. They try to be discreet so it will never say Ashley Madison.
