1. If the BC pill messed you up, don't get Mirena. It contains hormones. Go with Paragard IUD.

2. If you TTCed for 10 years and ended up needing IVF, you may be safe just to go without, as long as you're not opposed to letting nature decide the issue of a third kid. This is what I would do.

Thing is, you are more likely to be horny when you are ovulating (if you do ovulate).

Just buy a box of condoms until you are sure you want a third or not.

OP here. That was my view. We don't have sex much and I can't get pregnant without IVF. What are the odds that on the rare occasion that we do it, I'm ovulating (which I usually don't), it is a good quality egg (which it usually isn't), and I get pregnant. I was willing to roll the dice, but if DH isn't, I respect that. I'm just not going to track ovulation and think about it as part of my daily life.

A constant stream of houseguests seems to be working for us.

Just don't have sex. That's our preferred method. No opportunities with two under two and then as they get older they have fewer naps. There is now no chance on this planet that we could have a 3rd unless the Angel Gabriel were to visit me one day.

Nexplanon. Get it put in during the first 5 days of your period/cycle.

I don't know why more people don't know about the implant. Don't think "Norplant" - totally different and better.

OP here. I should have mentioned that we initially agreed to see what happens since we never have been pregnancy on our own and I'm obviously a lot older than when we started. DH has backtracked from that a bit and now wants me to monitor ovulation and avoid DTD on fertile days for a while (not that I really have fertile days). I really just don't want to have to put that much energy into not getting pregnant - temping and test strips and all of that stuff.

We have two kids conceived through IVF. We "think" we are done, but do not want to foreclose the possibility of another one down the road. Since I have been TTC or nursing for more than a decade, I have no clue what the best options are to discuss with my doctor. I had horrible side effects when I was on BCP many moons ago, but perhaps there are options that don't involve mood swings and weight gain now? Any other advanced I should be mentioning that are low on side effects?
