For the older kids , take gondola up Cannon Mountain , hike down.

Fantastic vacation spot - been there many times. Stuff for kids? Try StoryLand. Drive up Mt Washington. Or take the cog train up the mtn. Go to Attitash, buy a pass for the waterpark and alpine slide. Many different ski resorts run their lifts, so hiking is super easy to get to. North Conway is pretty much in the middle, has a huge outlet center, and essentially one of the biggest towns you will find. Go camping. Loon Mtn used to have a Man in the Mountain hike and talk - kids will love it. We canoed down the Saco River into Maine, which is very close - a great day trip. Try and see the Northern Lights. Look for moose. Walk thru the Flume Gorge. Swim at Diana's Baths. Eat dinner at the White Mountain Hotel - sorta like the Greenbrier. It will be not just cool, but chilly some nights. Up there it is very rare to get A/C - simply not needed. If you don't love it, I will pay you $20!

Where is the cabin? The White Mountains are quite large and it can take awhile to get to places. I am from NH (Southern) and we went up to North Conway 2 summers ago for a couple of nights with our kids. We drove up Mt. Washington, went to the outlets, and walked around North Conway. There's also a scenic railroad and lots of state parks if you are into hiking, etc. Storyland and Santa's Village will be fun, not sure where the water park is. Jackson is also a cute town, but smaller than North Conway. I think it would be a fun trip, but you definitely have to be into outdoor stuff because that is definitely the focus of activities. I am not sure abput mosquitoes - I don't remember them being that bad, and it does get really cool at night which would help keep them down I would think.

DH and his brother are already starting to plan a trip for next summer. His brother's coworkers has a nice house (6 bedrooms, high end cabin, unite pool) that he rents out to friends/friends of friends at a good price in the summer as he own the house mainly for skiing in the winter. I don't know anything about the area at all. Is there enough to do in the White Mountains for families in the summer. Our two families have 4 adults and 6 kids 14, 13, 10, 8, 5, 3 so it is quite a spread. I did some googling and there seems to be a water park that would be fun for everyone and then smaller amusement parks (Storyland, Santa's Village) for the little kids. Any other ideas? Are the misquitos terrible there? Any advice? Should we not do this trip?
