If an early BFN won't send you into a tailspin, get some super cheap Wondfo's on Amazon (like 25 for $9). Then start testing every morning at 10dpo. But don't freak out if you are getting BFN that early. My friend didn't get a BFP until 18dpo.

I got a negative at 14 DPO, then a + 15 DPO, but it was just a very very faint line. 16 DPO got me a pretty solid, but still light line. For me, the two week wait really means that. And I'm not one of those people who can wait a week, obviously.

9-10 DPO is really the earliest you'd see a positive, but most of the time it takes a few more days. I tested every morning and got my first positive 13 DPO.

This is true.

four days before your expected period.

This is only sort of true. Lots of people do ovulate 14 days before their periods, but most people don't. I ovulate about 11 days before my period. Lots of people ovulate 18 days before their periods. This is why it's so important to temp and check cervical mucous. You should really read taking charge of your fertility.

The longer you wait to test the more accurate your result will be. You can get a + at 10dpo, but you could also get a false negative (too early). Generally by 12-13dpo, you should be seeing some kind of line but some people have not tested positive until even after that and gone on to have successful pregnancies.

BTW try to find the old FRER without the curved handle. A lot of people have had trouble with them. They are expensive though (3 sticks for 12 bucks), especially if it takes you a long time to get pregnant. I ended up buying some cheapies off Amazon, something like 50 sticks for 18 bucks.

How informed are you about when you ovulated? Generally you can start testing and expect a positive response 10 days after you ovulated, four days before your expected period. Those pregnancies are fragile though and a strong positive a week or so after your period is a better sign.

Just go to CVS, lots of options. First Response is the best IMO but make sure to get First Response Early Response if you're testing before expecting your period.
