Last year my son got into CMIT South towards the end of September and this year my other child just got a seat in another school. So yes you can get accepted after school opens but I don't know for how long

OP here. Thank you both for your responses. My daughter actually made it off the wait list (yay!) on the day before school starts. I'm glad that she's able to attend her new school from the very beginning. She's starting kindergarten, so I'd like her transition to be as smooth as possible.

While I was enrolling my daughter, another parent came in to withdraw her child (different grade level). That shows how quickly wait list numbers can change. For anyone who's close to the top, and doesn't mind switching schools, keep hope--and communication--alive. Good luck!

My daughter is now in the single digits on the wait list for one of the Imagine charter schools, and her number keeps getting lower as we approach the first day of school. I believe they continue to make placements from the charter and specialty wait lists through September 30th, so I'm wondering how much movement occurs after the beginning of the school year.

Probably not a lot, but some things happen. I seriously contemplated withdrawing my rising Kindergartener from one of the choice schools. We had some upheaval with our other son's daycare arrangements , and if money weren't an issue, I would have withdrawn my oldest as soon as he got through the process at a private. If we had decided to go through with it, it would have been the first week of September.

I'm a teacher in PG and I know one of our students withdrew about a week or two in because she got into a charter. So I'm not sure how frequently that happens, but it certainly is possible.
