Go on the Virginia DMV website. They have a step by step guide for learning how to drive. 30 Minutes at a time. The first 4 or 5 lessons are all in an empty parking lot. It starts very slowly and builds up slowly. We found it very helpful. Sunday morning at NIH- is a great area to start. If you still want to do a driving school- do the first dozen or so lessons to get them up to small roads and let the driving school take it from there.

No driving school uses simulators. They don't even make them anymore.

Really? a quick search on google turns up quite a few. It is amazing to me how lazy and inaccurate people are.

Find one in this area smart ass.

I guess I am since you made a stupid statement and got called on it and apparently don't like to be wrong.

They make arcade games that are like driving simulators. It wouldn't be that cost prohibitive.

Well, the ones the police and fire use are like small rooms that have screens where all the windows are, so they can practice maneuvers that rely on peripheral vision. I don't know for sure, but would think the ones like video games with chairs wouldn't be as effective at teaching the skills a student driver would need.
