Thanks for the recommendation. We've seen some beautiful fans with plywood blades. A veneer would be fine, too, just not the cheap laminate they have on many at Lowes.

I think that's very similar to ones I see at Lowes.

Something to keep in mind is that I don't think that fan is big enough for a family room. I always wish mine was slightly bigger.

I have spent a little more on some nice fans ($250 - $275 for a Minka Aire Koa), but that one you linked is not worth it at all. Looks really standard and you can get something that will have the same impact for way less. I think it's fine to go a step up from the most basic for quality, but that one you linked is not worth it.

Don't waste your money. Get Hampton Bay or something similar at Lowe's or Home Depot.

We're in the market for ceiling fans for the living room and dining room in our 1920s craftsman. I love this one from Rejuvenation:

but it's so expensive! Has anyone bought a fan from Rejuvenation? Is it really worth the extra cost over something similar from Lowes? Anywhere else I should be looking?
