Install neutral blinds and paint your walls a great color.

The room sounds very color blocky- somehow tie a few of the items you have together with the drapes. Maybe get a ready- made solid beige drape and have a blue border sewn onto the panels.

My three year old was on the sofa with me yesterday and commented that everything in our house is some variation of brown, cream, and black. Ha!

We have chocolate satin blackout curtains downstairs. I have a neutral sueded light beige set of curtains in the front of the house my bedroom. DD has white cotton shears in her room. DS is the only one to have any color at all. His walls are a bee's wax yellow, with some World Market bohemian paisley tie on curtains in each window.

The chocolate adds a warmth to the downstairs. I like a soothing palate, and very much enjoy the warmth. We have couple of very large mirrors and mahogany floors and window frames. It's the artwork that adds color, for what it's worth. I'm much more into texture, honestly. Leather sofas, oak table,...it's a clean, expansive look.

I've often thought about switching the curtains out, winter and summer. But, I never do.

There's something to be said for consistency. Having the curtains work with the wall paint and general decor seem to pull the space together. I can see using the curtains for that pop of color everyone seems to want, but I really do like the peaceful feel of what we've managed.

That's a pretty dull color palette. I would kick it up a notch with something more vibrant that incorporated the blue from the fireplace and the ottoman. Maybe add some light blue accessories to tie it all together.

Oh, I missed that your fireplace has blue tile -- maybe those curtains in blue would be a better match. It has navy and aqua.

Definitely add some color in there - that's a lot of brown and gray!

They were actually recommended by our designer for my living room in blue (I decided against curtains, we have a bright patterned rug and it would have been too much).

Also our throw pillows are a brownish gray with Quatro foil print.

We have kind of a bare bones living room in that we dont have a lot of furniture or accents but I would like to warm it up with curtains. I'm just not sure what color to choose. My inclination is to go with brown or gray.

I like the modern look of gray curtains but would that be too much gray? What color would you recommend?
