Baby bargains recommends the Romina cribs. Harder wood, safe, etc. Not sure how the iron crib (from R&H) would be-- sturdy I am sure. I have heard that people who have bought Romina cribs do not regret that decision.

Spending more money does not equate to safety.

Like prior posters, we spent about $500 on a "nice" crib and wish we had gotten the ikea one. It gets so beat up - chewed on, pulled on, bodily fluids, wear from your shirt leaning in when you pick up the baby.... We had annex to "convert" it to a bed with rails later but after our second kid is done with it it's going to goodwill or in the trash.

Spend money on other stuff. Seriously. Do you know how expensive daycare is??

-1 We wanted a sturdy crib and good car seats. We value safety. Other ways to save money but safety is not one.

I agonized over this. I bought a $400 crib and 2 years later I wish I'd spent at least 1/2. There are so many decent less expensive cribs out there. You don't need to spend a fortune on this. There are so many things to buy and once you have the baby a million things you will buy after that. I too wanted greenguard etc and worried about off gassing and wood and where it was built. Not sure any of it matters. I also bought a $$$ mattress. I think I feel better about that decision but probably would go with the Colgate if I was starting over.

Just get the $100 IKEA one. They manufacture their furniture to the highest standards of the countries they sell in so they aren't as toxic as your standard US furniture.

I think the RH one looks like a crib that would be in an old-timey orphanage. I can just picture rows and rows of them in some dingy orphanage.

I like the first one, but it seems very girly to me if you're having a boy.

The Franklin is the one I like the best of the choices you posted.

We had a restoration hardware crib and I'd vote for it. They often go on sale and you can find coupon codes. I loved ours. The wood was far more sturdy then the basic graco my mom had.

I prefer Newport Cottages cribs.

I wonder if the Romina cribs are worth the price tag? They are $800 and up. The restoration hardware one is expensive too.

I am most interested in a crib that doesnt off-gas and is greenguard certified. However, I am considering some that dont exactly fit these two qualifications. Here are the ones at the top of the list:
