I agree with this poster- table or floor fans. Ceiling fans in general aren't very good looking. I'd much rather have a nice light fixture on the ceiling than a fan.

Funny - I was looking for something like this when we put bunk beds in my kids' rooms (the high beds were hot, but fans would be crazy close to my kids. The enclosed fans, like this one:

If you google enclosed ceiling fan, a bunch come up. Not all of which I would consider ugly, although I'm not a ceiling fan person, so YMMV.

The one in your like is really ugly. I kind of doubt it would even work that while. What about just a vintage looking floor fan instead? And an attractive light fixture that no one will bump their head on. The floor fans are really stable.

We live in an old Cape Cod with low ceilings in the two upper bedrooms. When we bought the house, they both had ceiling fans in them. My 6' DH's head clears the blades, but barely. We wanted to replace them, but an electrician who was working for us said that he could not install new ones b/c they would violate code for ceiling fan clearance. He said the only ones he could install would be ones like the Harbor Breeze Hive Series:

I procrastinated b/c these are so ugly, but we really need new fans so I decided to bite the bullet. But now it turns out that those have been discontinued. Does anyone else who has really low ceilings have a suggestion about a good fan model to buy, ideally, that would be to code (enclosed) for low ceiling height? Thanks!
