PP here. My kid actually did get in: when it was a GT program. Most of the kids in AAP today are above average teacher-pleasers.

It needs to be either weeded down into a gifted and talented program, which means cutting about 80% of the current kids in it, or abolished entirely. I don't think they're allowed to do the latter, so maybe the former is appropriate.
