I thought my Bosch electric oven was broken. I called customer service, and they told me to reset it by turning off the power for 10 minutes and then turning it back on. My oven worked after that. If doing this makes any sense in your situation, it's worth a try.

Was that the stupid permit to hook up a gas stove? It's interesting they never got the permit (which is really just a gas stove tax). Instead of using Sears install services I found an independent plumber that did not mention the permit or charge me for it.

Watch out for those service plans. Sears really burned me by making me wait weeks to have a washer repaired. I've learned my lesson. Skip the plan and then you can call an independent repair person if you ever need one.

Sears warranties are only good as long as the company stays in business.

I just ordered from Home Depot; their price and service plan both beat Sears. I've ordered with Sears before and they're very prompt with the installation, but if something goes wrong, it takes a very long time to reach a human who understands and is in a position to do something about getting it fixed.

Haven't received delivery from Home Depot yet (I scheduled it for next week) so can't report how that experience has gone.

I like the Sears Appliance store in Tenley town. So easy to get to and they now what they are taking about.

We had a bad experience with Best Buy. The guy who came to install our new dishwasher stole my husband's cell phone. The company did eventually cover the thousands of dollars in calls to Guatamala, but it was a huge pain. Now we always go to Bray and Scarff. They only sell appliances and know what they are talking about when you ask questions.

Sears and Best Buy can get you a new one by tomorrow. The well-known name brands are all pretty similar in quality and reliability. The websites have a lot of reviews but just remember that every product is going to have some negative reviews so don't waste your time looking for a product that has zero complaints.

Best Buy -- they will take it right back if there is a problem -- no questions asked.

Same way I buy all my appliances (and lots of other things). First I looked on Consumer Reports and evaluated. Then I looked for the best deal on the item I chose at the various stores.

Where did you buy your oven?
