LoveSac Sactional. Get the less expensive slipcovers. Once the kids are older, buy a more expensive slipcover.

We bought the kivik from Ikea. Cleans up easily, it's cheap and has super inexpensive slipcovers. We hope to have real furniture once our kids are older but for now we're ikea all the way.

Get a leather sofa - we tried everything before, and nothing withstood kid stains. Leather is easily wiped up.

Look for rugs at Homegoods and/or Overstock. Lots of affordable options that can basically be thrown away if need be. Or you could try Flor carpet tiles. You replace tiles that are gross without replacing the whole rug: http://www.flor.com/shop-categories?gclid=CJnR7uCRkMcCFYyQHwod0TQBGA

Don't spend too much. We bought basic things that look fine but we intend to replace after our kid is five or so. Look for things that vacuum easily, are washable, and are durable fabrics. But don't get too invested in any of it.

My best recommendation is just to NOT get anything too expensive. Plan on buying something that looks decent but that you can replace when the kids are a bit older. Otherwise, you'll have a beautiful piece with stains on it, etc.

We are moving and will need to buy a new couch for the den, plus some rugs, as most of the house has hardwood floors. What have you all purchased that has withstood children and their messes?
