I really like BM Jute. It is a clean neutral that is less pink than the beige of yore but not gray. Dark rooms need contrast or they look dingy. I wouldn't do white or cream.

Try Benjamin Moore Revere Pewter or Cape Hatteras Sand, pretty beige like neutrals.

Anything but grays. A gray windowless basement will be like the inside of a dingy battleship.

When I am trying to figure out a color, I sometimes mix together leftovepaint colors that I really like with white or whitish paint on a paper plate. I keep tinting it until I end up with a color I love.

I then take the paint covered paper plate into home depot and have them color match it for me.

Since you have a cream that you already prefer, try mixing it with other paints to get a new color.

Don't paint it white. White in a room with very little natural lighting looks dingy.

Go on the apartment therapy website. They have a bunch of great suggestions.

I would go to a BM store and ask themfor a less yellow version of what you like. For example,my previous house was almost entirely Sherwin Williams practical beige. In our new house I decided to go gray in the living spaces but my master was still going to be beige. This time I went with nomadic desert which is similar to practical beige but with a more yellow/camel undertone than the pinky practical beige. Talk to the BM staff; they'll help you!

We are going to be painting our basement at the end of this week. It has 1 very small 1/2 window that essentially lets in very little light. It has beige carpeting and recessed lights and we want the space to feel bright and warm. We are moving and the house we are currently in has a similar basement.
